Booking Terms & Conditions
At Likizo Safaris, we are committed to making your East African adventure seamless, safe, and memorable. Please read these terms carefully before booking. By making a booking or deposit payment, you agree to these terms and conditions.
1. Booking Confirmation
- All bookings are subject to availability and confirmation by Likizo Safaris.
- A booking is confirmed only upon receipt of the required deposit and issuance of a written confirmation (via email or invoice).
- We will provide a detailed itinerary, invoice, and any required permits (e.g., gorilla/chimpanzee trekking permits) upon confirmation.
2. Deposits & Payments
- Deposit: A non-refundable deposit of 30% of the total tour cost is required at the time of booking to secure your reservation, lodges, guides, vehicles, and permits.
- Balance Payment: The remaining 70% is due no later than 60 days before the safari start date (90 days for peak season or gorilla-inclusive trips).
- Bookings made within 60 days of departure: Full payment is required at the time of booking.
- Gorilla & Chimpanzee Permits (Uganda/Rwanda): These must be paid in full at the time of booking confirmation, as they are strictly non-refundable and non-transferable once issued by authorities.
- Payment Methods: We accept bank transfers, credit/debit cards (Visa/Mastercard; note a 3–5% processing fee may apply), or mobile money (e.g., MTN MoMo in Uganda). All payments must be in USD or UGX equivalent.
- Late payments may result in cancellation of the booking without refund of deposit.
3. Cancellation & Refund Policy
Cancellations must be made in writing (email to info@likizosafaris.com). Refunds are subject to the following scale (excluding non-refundable gorilla/chimpanzee permits, which are 100% forfeited):
- More than 90 days before departure: Full refund minus non-refundable deposit (30%).
- 60–90 days before departure: 50% refund of the balance (total forfeiture: deposit + 50% of balance).
- 30–59 days before departure: 25% refund of the balance (total forfeiture: deposit + 75% of balance).
- Less than 30 days before departure or no-show: No refund (100% forfeiture).
- Force Majeure: In cases of government restrictions, natural disasters, pandemics, or other events beyond our control, we will work with you to reschedule or offer credit toward future travel (subject to availability). Refunds may be partial or unavailable if suppliers (lodges, airlines) do not refund us.
All cancellations are processed after deduction of any non-recoverable costs incurred (e.g., permits, advance lodge bookings).
4. Changes & Amendments
- Minor changes (e.g., date adjustments within the same season) may be possible subject to availability and may incur admin fees (approx. $50–$100 USD).
- Significant changes or upgrades may be treated as a new booking or incur additional costs.
- We reserve the right to modify itineraries due to weather, road conditions, park regulations, or wildlife movements for your safety and enjoyment.
5. Travel Insurance
- Comprehensive travel insurance is mandatory for all bookings, covering medical emergencies, evacuation, trip cancellation/interruption, baggage loss, and activities (including gorilla trekking).
- Proof of insurance may be requested before departure.
- Likizo Safaris is not liable for losses not covered by your insurance.
6. Health & Safety
- Yellow Fever Vaccination: Required for entry into Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, and Rwanda (certificate must be carried).
- Follow all destination health guidelines (e.g., malaria prophylaxis recommended).
- We provide safe, well-maintained 4×4 vehicles, experienced English-speaking guides, and emergency support.
- Clients must inform us of any medical conditions or mobility requirements at booking.
7. Liability & Responsibility
- Likizo Safaris acts as an agent arranging services from third-party suppliers (lodges, parks, transport). We are not liable for supplier defaults, delays, or issues beyond our control.
- We are not responsible for personal injury, loss, or damage unless caused by our proven negligence.
- Wildlife encounters are unpredictable—follow guide instructions at all times.
8. Baggage & Personal Items
- Domestic flights (e.g., to/from parks): Strict 15kg soft-sided luggage limit per person (plus small carry-on).
- Excess baggage fees apply if exceeded.
9. Privacy & Data
Your personal information is used only for booking, communication, and visa/permit processing. We comply with relevant data protection laws.
10. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Uganda. Any disputes will be resolved through negotiation or courts in Kampala.
