A well-paced week and a half through Uganda’s southwest, taking in wetlands, gorilla trekking, tree-climbing lions, and chimpanzee tracking. This trip will enable you to visit 2 forest parks mainly for primates especially Gorillas and Chimpanzees .

You will also visit 2 savannah parks for mammals and predators . You will have the opportunity to do a foot safari – Nature Walk . You will also enjoy a boat cruise for mammals and reptiles especially crocodiles . A visit to Bigodi local community will enable you to experience the life of indigenous people .

Full Itinerary

Day 1 : Arrival and Reception

Day 1-Arrival and Reception .                                                                                                               Upon arrival at the airport you will be met and warmly received by our representative who will take you to your first hotel for accommodation and relax from the long flight as you enjoy your first experience in Uganda . . Depending on your arrival time there are optional activities available for you ; a nature walk in the botanical gardens on the shores of lake Victoria for monkeys and bird watching . The plants and trees in the park provide a beautiful scenery . You can also take a walk and visit craft shops with beautiful artcraft in Entebbe

After breakfast you will go to Mabamba swamp on lake Victoria in search of the famous Shoebill and other bird species then proceed to Lake Mburo National Park via the Equator. You will have an evening safari then go to your hotel. 

Today you will do a morning safari on foot in the park , famous for its zebras , impalas and elands which are the biggest antelopes .You may also see Giraffes , topis , buffaloes , water bucks and on a lucky day you may see a leopard . Then proceed to Bwindi national park – the home of the famous mountain gorillas. . Enjoy  the view of highlands with beautiful villages and plantations of tea , bananas , pine and eucalyptus trees . Proceed to the hotel and relax for the following day’s Gorilla tracking .

Today’s experience is the climax in your journey ; you are going to meet the famous “ mountain gorillas” .The tracking is done in a thick forest with slopes and valleys – another adventure for your physical fitness . After briefing by Park rangers you will begin the tracking in groups of 8 people each , accompanied by professional rangers . You need to be physically fit for the walk which may last from two to eight hours. Don’t forget to carry enough drinking water , packed lunch , a mask and a rain coat. You are also supposed to wear long sleeved clothes , trousers and hiking shoes.

After breakfast drive to Queen Elizabeth national park-Ishasha sector for a safari in search of the unique tree climbing lions , elephants, buffalos , topis , leopards , kobs and other animals and various species of birds , then proceed to the northern sector of the park. .The journey is long , but there is a lot to see in the savannah grasslands and the Maramagambo forest .  Enjoy the view of elephants , buffaloes , antelopes , monkeys and many bird species on the way  .

Take early breakfast , then begin your safari early for better chances of viewing predators like lions , hyenas and leopards . The park is considered to be the most beautiful due to its rich ecosystem . It also shelters other animal species like elephants , buffalos , kobs , crocodiles , hippos ,antelopes , warthogs e.t.c and more than 600 species of birds. Return to hotel for lunch and relax . In the afternoon you will have a boat ride on Kazinga canal which connects lake George in the East  and lake Edward in the West , shared by Uganda and D .R Congo .  During the boat you will see many hippos at a close distance , crocodiles ,monitor lizards ,many animals that come to the canal to drink water and cool themselves . Birds such as fish eagles , king fishers ,  herons , storks , weaver birds and hammer kops are  very common .

Today you will drive to Kibale forest national park -the home of our closely  related animals –  “ chimpanzees “. The park  is also home to more than 10 species of primates such as baboons , black and white colobus monkeys , red colobus monkeys , red tailed monkeys , grey cheeked mangabeys ,l’hoest monkeys  e.t.c and a variety of bird species. On arrival you will visit the local community to interact with the people and experience their way of  living to learn how they make juice , beer and gin from bananas , how they grow and process coffee locally . You will also be entertained by  an association of women who make art craft from natural materials . Then return to hotel .

– Today you are going to track chimpanzees in Kibale forest park , an exciting exercise ! . The chimpanzees are the animals most related to human beings. They are habituated for tourism and can be observed at a close distance . They are usually gentle and tolerate human presence without any sign of provocation .The activity is guided by rangers who explain the life of chimpanzees and other animals that you may see , as well as different plants and trees. You are expected to carry drinking water , a rain coat , a mask and to wear long sleeved clothes , trousers and hiking shoes. An insect repellant is also important . After tracking you will return to the hotel and relax for the rest of the day .

Today is the last day of your journey . After breakfast you will proceed to the airport for your flight back home. If time allows you may have a stop over at Entebbe and visit craft shops for souvenirs .
